IAN KAGEY
Ian Kagey is that rare individual who has equal love and passion for the creative and technical sides of music making. He grew in a home filled with music, theater, and science that set him on a journey from taking apart his parents old electronics and recording albums in his brother’s bedroom, to renovating and operating world class studios and working with some of music’s most extraordinary artists.
Ian has worked on hundreds of albums and won his first Grammy for mixing the 2022 Broadway Revival cast album of INTO THE WOODS starring Sara Bareilles. Having grown up a theater kid, he is a beloved, go-to engineer for Broadway and theater artists, as well as film and TV composers, and performers of all genres.
Ian is also a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, educator, entrepreneur, and skilled technician.
He runs Renaissance Recording, a recording studio located in Midtown Manhattan, with his friend and partner, Grammy winning engineer Derik Lee.

Technical Engineer: coordinate and oversee setup and install for large recording sessions, with a specialty in orchestra sessions.
Technical Consultant: service, repair and/or rebuild audio gear, with a specialty in large format recording consoles and vintage analog gear.
Studio Design: high-level system design and integration for all levels of multi-media spaces.
